Lauran Hammond

Lauran qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2006 having attained a Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine. 

Lauran entered into mixed practice in East Sussex working with farm animals, small animals and equines.  During her 2 years in Sussex she gained much experience including lots of out of hours emergency work.  Also whilst in mixed practice she attained her official veterinarian status in small and large animal panels and this allowed her to spend a period working with DEFRA in the local disease control centre in the foot and mouth outbreak of 2007. 

Lauran then moved to Hertfordshire in 2008 and worked as a mixed practitioner in Essex building close working relationships with clients and developing a keen interest in large animal and equine work before setting up her own practice in 2011.

Lauran has an excellent reputation with her clients and is known for her professional but approachable, calm and personable manner in all aspects of her practice.

Lauran lives in Hertfordshire with her husband James, their two dogs and Welsummer chickens.  In her spare time she enjoys walking the dogs and everything the countryside has to offer, swimming and baking cakes.

Janneke Erkelens

Janneke qualified from Utrecht University (Netherlands) in 1996 having attained a Diploma in Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Janneke has dedicated her career to focusing on livestock, farm planning and consultancy work.

She has worked in establishments such as the Royal Veterinary College where she has been actively involved in the teaching of students as well as commercial farm practice. Whilst in practice Janneke has also attained her official veterinarian status in large animal panels and this has allowed her to perform important disease surveillance work with livestock.

Janneke lives in Hertfordshire with her husband Stephen and her three boys, two dogs and backyard chickens. She has a keen interest in pottery and design and creates some beautifully crafted items.

Bethany Thomas

Beth graduated from the Royal Veterinary College where she studied on the graduate programme to attain her Bachelors in Veterinary Medicine (BVetMed MRCVS). Prior to this she studied at the University of Warwick for 4 years, achieving her Masters in Biological Science (MBio).

Beth has always enjoyed working with all animals and spent several years helping lamb on her local farm, which has become one of her favourite times of year. Through this experience she gained an interest in large animals, particularly farm species. She has conducted research projects during both degrees in the area of bovine mammary gland health, which is a particular interest of hers. Beth is an Official Veterinarian (OV) and conducts farm health surveillance work on a regular basis.

Beth is originally from Nottingham but currently lives in Hertfordshire with her partner Harry and her goldfish, hoping to add a dog as soon as possible! In her spare time Beth enjoys skiing in the winter and bodyboarding on the beach in the summer.

Beth Reilly

Beth is originally from South London and graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2017. From here she undertook a Junior Clinical Training Scholarship in Farm Animal Health and Production at Cambridge University where she developed her farm animal interests of cattle lameness as well as her interest pet pig interest.

Following this, she moved to Synergy Farm Health in Dorset to complete a second Junior Clinical Training Scholar (JCTS) in Production Animal Medicine run by the Royal Veterinary College. During this time she completed a post graduate diploma in veterinary clinical practice (PGDipVCP) and then continued to work at Synergy Farm health after completing this internship. Her time at Synergy Farm Health allowed her to follow her interests in teaching, small ruminants and cattle lameness. She was a member of the Cattle Lameness Academy team at Synergy and led the development of the ‘Mobility Matters’ educational videos on cattle lameness. She is also a RoMS accredited cattle mobility scorer.

In Autumn 2020, Beth moved to the Royal Veterinary College as a Teaching Fellow and works p
art time as a farm animal only vet for Hammond's as part of the clinical teaching venture between RVC and Hammond vets.  She completed a post graduate certificate in veterinary education in 2022 (PGCertVetEd), and is now taking on some sheep and goat lecturing at RVC.

Beth loves all thing's farm animal but particularly has interests in cattle lameness, small ruminants and veterinary education.  

Outside of veterinary she can be found playing canoe polo, walking, spending time with her backyard hens or painting.

Emilie Charles

Emilie graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 2023 with her Bachelor in Veterinary Medicine after attaining a previous Bachelor Degree in Animal Science with a specialisation in Livestock from University of California Davis (UCD). Emilie has a particular interest in the Pig industry having worked managing an 800 head pig herd at UCD. During her time there she was responsible for management of the herd with regards to breeding and genetic selection, farrowing, artificial insemination, boar management and herd health.

Emilie has a keen interest in all large animal areas and fully embraces working in practice at Hammond Vets with all the different species we have the pleasure of caring for. Emilie enjoys engaging with students that attend the practice and works to achieve good relationships with our farmers and equine clients alike.

Emilie lives in Hertfordshire with her cat Bluey. Emilie is a keen weight lifter in her spare time and enjoys the arts making the most of our Capital nearby. She has seen most of the musicals and is taking advantage of the classical music opportunities in London.

Rosie Wignall

Rosie Wignall is an Emergency and critical care nurse and certified ECC nurse. She has a specific interest in cardiology and is finding it most interesting and inspiring to be involved with the larger farm animals.

Rosie has an ex thoroughbred racehorse and takes part in show jumping with him. She is also the proud owner of her first pony who she first got at age 10 years and she adores her horses.

Two lively dogs make up the menagerie at Rosie’s home.

Victoria Fox

Victoria is our office manager taking care of all our administrative needs.  She is an organised and efficient individual who enjoys problem solving. 

She has worked in the travel industry prior to running her own smallholding.  Victoria lives in Hertfordshire with her husband Nick and their two children along with their dogs, cats, sheep flock, chickens, geese and many more!

Victoria enjoys exercising her horses and teaching the children to ride.

Tracey Hutchings

Tracey has spent a total of 27 years in the pharmaceutical industry most recently 18 of those years at Glaxo Smith Kline. Tracey and Hammond Vets had a good relationship prior to her joining the practice as Hammond Vets care for her seven polo ponies.

Having always lived in the countryside and had a keen interest in all animals Tracey and her family pursue many equestrian sports and show jumping formed a large part of this some years ago.

Tracey manages all aspects of the office ensuring that diaries are structured to enable the team to be placed where they are needed to support and care for the clients animals.

Lucy Vincent-Wilson

Lucie has worked in several industries prior to joining our team at Hammond Vets. She has strong roots in the education sector holding a Diploma in Education which complements our learning ethos at the practice. Working with both adults and children during her time in education has given her a broad and valuable skillset to assist our team. Lucie also has a very creative side and holds another Diploma in Advanced Leather Goods Production and Management from The Cordwainer’s Technical College of London.

Lucie embraces all aspects of outdoor country living and she especially enjoys the winter months when she can work her Spaniel Stanley. She has two children and lives in Hertfordshire.

Lucie manages all aspects of the office ensuring that diaries are structured to enable the team to be placed where they are needed to support and care for our clients and their animals. Lucie is very organised, jolly and efficient at keeping our vet team running.

Matthew Hammond

Matthew runs his own IT Consultancy Company, "theITmedic" and is our IT guru who fixes all the technical challenges we throw at him. He carries out remote and on site work to assist with our practice running smoothly and has an approachable and understandable rapport with his clients.
